Above is the collected specimen of the first Gutierrezia elegans found. I am holding the new species
above the point I found it growing in its Mancos Shale habitat.
In the photograph below the same specimen is dried, framed, and hanging in my dining room.  Several other specimens
were collected and are now in herbariums.
